A week in NC

The week after Christmas we went to Jacksonville and Swansboro, NC to visit Michele. We left Monday morning and got back Saturday night. It was a fun and relaxing week. The pictures below are the kids playing on the beach. It wasn't really warm, but not cold either. No sun tanning, but a fun afternoon. We also visited the birthplace of Pepsi in New Bern. Pepsi was originally named Brad's Drink after the inventor.

A Merry Christmas!

Camille got red Minnie Mouse rain boots from grandma for Christmas. She wore them to church on Sunday and has worn them every day this week! They are the only shoes she will wear right now. We are visiting Michele again this week in NC for the New Year and Camille only wanted to bring and wear her red boots! Those boots have been worn with dresses as well as pants.

December Happenings

The month of December is always very busy with various activities. I just posted a few photos of some of the kids many events. The one show I didn't get any pictures from was Sara's choir concert, which was very nice and festive.

Katie and Camille participated in the Mason Dance Center's Nutcracker. Katie is on the right.

Camille is the angel to the right of the Sugar Plum Fairy.

Carter and Sara had their Holiday piano recital. The kids did great and worked really hard on their music.

Carter has started basketball. This is his first season playing and he loves it. He is picking up the necessary skills quickly and having a great time. In this photo his is red #30. I will post more pictures throughout the season.

A Thanksgiving to Remember

This year Thanksgiving was a little unusual. We had made plans months back to travel to NC to visit Brad's sister, Michele for the holiday. But then about the beginning of November I realized that Cincinnati State doesn't give me the Saturday after Thanksgiving off and since I had a class that day I needed to attend my Stats class. Our plans changed so that Brad and the kids were going to visit Michele and I would stay and have a quiet holiday and go to class. Then Sara decided our plans needed to be changed again. The Sunday before Thanksgiving Sara got really sick in the stomach. Brad took her to the doctor on Monday, which lead to lab work, which ended up with Sara at Children's hospital for an emergency appendectomy. Surgery went very well and Sara is doing great! But that meant that Sara and I had a small, quiet Thanksgiving in Cincinnati and Brad, Katie, Carter and Camille went to NC. The picture is of the kids playing on the beach on afternoon. Brad's dad also flew in from SLC to visit all of them in NC. It was definitely a holiday to remember.

Wicked!

Brad took the girls on a date tonight and saw Wicked at the Aronoff Center in Cincinnati. They loved it!!! They like to talk about the show and retell some jokes. It was a very special daddy-daughter (s) night.

My Dad's Birthday

This year my dad turned 60! And to celebrate the occasion I flew back to Utah along with all my siblings to party. We had a great party, watched the BYU game, and had a fun scavenger hunt throughout Logan. It was an awesome long weekend. I wish my family could have come join the fun. Another fun fact is that this was the first time in many years that all seven of us siblings have been together again. For all are reunions for the past years someone has been on a mission, attending military training, or having a baby. I included a picture of the seven of us--all together again!! Happy Birthday Dad!

All the kids and grand kids meet at the church parking lot and then we went up and surprised my dad by ringing the door bell and singing happy birthday to him. He didn't know any of us were coming especially me from Cincinnati and Brett's family from WA. My dad was so shocked and excited!

For the scavenger hunt we had to dress up in Halloween costumes. Some of my brothers changed back, but a few of us are still dressed up.

I'M IN, Now time to work!

I got my UC acceptance letter today!! I am in their accelerated nursing program. I will graduate in a about two years (starting in January) and graduate with a BSN and can continue working on my Masters degree. I am so excited! But its going to be a great deal of hard work. Bring it on!
